DESIGNING MIAMI NETFLIX
THE ASK
Netflix and Spoke Studios had a vision that was as bright and bold as Miami itself for 'Designing Miami.' They needed a graphics package that not only showcased the contrasting styles of Eilyn and Ray Jimenez but also encapsulated the Miami vibe. How do you blend maximalism and minimalism without creating a visual cocktail that's too strong to sip?
Creating a short intro graphic that mixes "Miami" with "Eilyn and Ray" was like fitting an entire season's wardrobe into a carry-on. We needed to distill the essence of the show in a flash, ensuring viewers got a taste of Miami’s design melting pot in just a few seconds.
THE CHALLENGE
THE PROCESS
Our journey began with an asset treasure trove from Spoke Studios, brimming with insights into Eilyn and Ray’s world. After several creative brainstorming sessions, we locked down the fonts and logo. Striking a balance between chic and eclectic was our mantra, as we aimed for an intro that felt like a well-orchestrated design symphony.
Our moment of inspiration? Fanning out creative swatches like palm leaves in a Miami breeze. This not only gave the intro animation a distinct Miami touch but also cleverly played into the unique design philosophies of Eilyn and Ray. It was a visual metaphor that married the city's flair with the show's design heartbeat.
THE SOLUTION
THE DELIVERABLES
The final output was a vibrant graphics package, including lower thirds, location IDs, and an intro animation that captured the essence of Miami and the Jimenezs' design ethos. It was a blend that managed to be both bold and understated, much like the city it represented. If this package were a cocktail, it would be a Mojito with a twist – refreshing, with a surprising kick.
