THE SEARCH FOR Q PROMO VICE
In late 2020 while working on Vice’s Qanon: The Search for Q, directors Bayan Joonam and Marley Clements asked us to create the intro for episode 2 of the three-part series: an opening sequence that depicted the meteoric rise of Qanon in a 1 minute-long animated music video.
Having been given a loose script, we jumped at the opportunity. We developed some initial style frames to kickstart the process, and from that point forward we fell down the rabbit hole with this entertaining yet poignant music video.
THE RESULTS
An exercise in the power of 2D motion design, the result was 65-seconds of handcrafted, animated storytelling depicting the history of the Qanon movement. The project was considered a huge success; after a screening of the clip at the network, it was then used as a trailer for the entire series across all social platforms.
